Influencing the Default TripTik Route
ITT is designed to select by default the route which is preferred by most AAA members, namely, the quickest route using major highways (as much as possible) to reach the stopovers and destination desired.
At times, ITT's default route may differ from the one that you prefer. In these situations, there are several options available in ITT to influence the application to present an alternate route which may more closely meet your specific requirements. These options include:
Avoiding Tolls / Avoiding Ferries
One method of influencing the route selected by ITT is to set your preferences for avoiding toll roads and/or routes utilizing ferries. To do this, in the Information Section:
| 1. | | Click on the "Preferences Link" at the top of the Information Section (above the tabs.)
| 2. | | On the preferences screen, under the "Route Options" section, select your preferences for avoiding tolls and avoiding ferries by checking the appropriate boxes, and then clicking
| 3. | | The options will take effect when you create your next route. |
Note: The "avoid" options will remain in place and affect all routes until you return to the Preferences section and modify your selections.
For more information on creating a route, see Getting Maps & Directions.

Using Stopovers to Influence Your Route
Another method for affecting the route selected by ITT is to insert stopover point(s) as additional location(s) along the path you wish your route to take. These stopovers can be cities, Points of Interest, or specific highways.
For example, on a trip from Calhoun Georgia to Macon Georgia, ITT will select a route which takes I-75 south through Atlanta.
This is considered the "default" route generated by ITT between these two cities
If you prefer to use the Atlanta Beltway (I-285 South) to travel around Atlanta, you may do so by adding it to your Trip Itinerary as a stopover point between Calhoun and Macon.

| | | switch to the "Multiple Destination" form by clicking at the right hand side of the green box.
| 3. | | In the "Enter Location" Form, enter the address "I-285 South, Atlanta Georgia".
| 4. | | Click on: |
The address will be added to your Trip Itinerary.

Next, the Trip Itinerary locations must be arranged in the correct order. In this example, do the following:
| 1. | | In the Trip Itinerary, click on the "Move Up" button next to the I-285 S, Atlanta Georgia address.

| 3. | | Finally, click on: |

The resulting maps and directions will reflect the desired routing utilizing the Atlanta Beltway. The road you added - I-285 South - will be shown as a stopover in your trip summary.
